Message from Mrs Towey

We are now in week two of the wider opening of our school and after welcoming back children from our Year 1 class last week, this week we have welcomed back some of our children from Nursery and Reception. Together with our Key Worker group, sounds of children enjoying their learning are beginning to fill the corridors! The children have quickly adapted to their new routine and I would like to thank the children and their parents for following the staggered timings and social distancing which has been implemented. Working together ensures that we all enjoy our time in school.

I hope everone at home is well. Keep posting your work and messages on the website as we all enjoy keeping in touch with you and hearing about the great work you are doing at home.

Best wishes to  you all,

Mrs Towey

Important message regarding the reopening of school

Dear Parents/Carers

Please find below a message from the Local Authority which has just been released, informing all schools that the planned reopening of schools can now go ahead from Monday 15th June 2020.

Monday 15th June - Year 1

Monday 22nd June - Nursery and Reception

Monday 29th June - Year 6

Thank you for your continued support.

Mrs Towey

Warrington Borough Council  - statement Thursday 11th June 2020

The council has continued to work jointly with school leaders in Warrington and a decision has been made today, Thursday, that the wider reopening of schools can go ahead next week, from Monday 15 June.

A decision was made last week to defer primary and special schools extending their opening to more pupils. This decision to delay by one week was based on a series of assessments and indicators from Public Health England, alongside the council’s own evidence-led and safety-first approach.

After further preparatory work, and following the joint conclusion this week from Directors of Public Health across Cheshire and Merseyside that schools would be safe to open to more children in a phased approach, the council and its education partners are preparing for schools to welcome more children from Monday 15 June.

A Message to Everyone from Everyone!

Dear Parents/ Carers,

The latest government advice for schools was released last week.  Please note the following advice taken from it.

'Schools, and all childcare providers, are being asked to continue to provide care for a limited number of children-children who are vulnerable, and children whose parents are critical to  the Covid-19 response and cannot be safely cared for at home.  Many parents working in these sectors may be able to ensure their child is kept at home.  And every child who can be safely cared for at home should be'.

Key worker information remains the same.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we all pull together to ensure the safety of the school and wider community.

For up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 we have created a tab on the left of this webpage which we regularly update as new information is received.  Please refer to this tab often for support and advice.

Home Learning

As instructed by the government, school is now closed and will remain closed until further notice.

The children will now continue with their school work at home.  On each of the class pages, you will find a daily timetable and a home learning section, containing the week's work for your child to complete.  A home learning book will be provided for every child.  These will be given to children currently in attendance at school.  For those already absent, a responsible adult, not currently displayinig any symptoms of COVID-19, should collect their home learning pack from the school reception area from 9am on Monday 23rd March.  We respectfully ask that only one adult at a time enters the school to collect each folder so that social distancing advice can be maintainied.

The home learning activities for children to complete will be updated each Monday from 9am during term-time.  We expect that activities in the home learning books are completed to a high standard of presentation and handwriting is to the same standard that children would use in their books at school.  Once school reopens, the children will be expected to bring their home learning books back into school.

We hope you enjoy working with your child and sharing their learning with them.

We wish all of our children and their families well during this challenging time.

As Blessed John Henry Newman became Saint John Henry Newman, we at St Augustine's celebrated this historic moment in our parish with a series of activities in school.  Below is a video showing what fun we had.
