Holy Doors Celebration of the word - December 2024

As we approach the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope, Pope Francis asks us to be signs of hope in the world. We gathered together as a school for Celebration of the word, to reflect on the significance of the Holy doors being opened.

Jubilee Launch - January 2025

On Friday 24th January we gathered together as a school for Celebration of the word to launch this special Jubilee year. All children were given the opportunity to write a pledge, reflecting on what social action they can take to care for our communities and to increase their understanding of the principles of CST.

Jubilee Launch Mass - January 2025

Our RE ambassadors joined with our neighbouring Shrewsbury schools, to celebrate the launch of the Jubilee Year of Hope with a speccial mass at church. We are pilgrims of hope, working together to build a better world.

Hope in a bag

We collected donations of warm clothing, blankets and toiletries to fill 'rucksacks of hope' with these essential items, for those living on the streets of Warrington. Our children and their families have given generously to this wonderful covenant.

Jar of Hope

During our whole school Celebration of the word to launch the jubilee year, each class was given a 'Jar of Hope' to go forth and fill. The children reflected on how they could be pilgrims of hope and thought about what they could do to bring hope to our world.

Messages of Hope for the local community

Year 3 were discussing the Jubilee Year of Hope and decided they would like to spread Pope Francis' message by creating their own messages of hope. Year 3 then put their messages of hope in and around the school building, to share with our children, staff, parents and neighbours. As you read them, take a moment to think about different ways you can share hope in our world.

Jubilee Logo

Year 1 were learning about the Jubilee Year of Hope logo. The logo shows four figures that represent humanity from the four corners of the earth, united in solidarity. The figure at the front is clinging to a cross that represents faith and hope. Year 1 then decided to recreate the Jubilee logo using things they could find around school.

Easter cards for the local community

Some of the children decided to make beautiful Easter cards which they were keen to share with the wider community of Latchford. Our RE ambassadords enjoyed spreading hope by delivering these Easter cards to our neighbours. We are pilgrims of hope and like to spread joy wherever we go.
