Coming back to school in a 'Bubble' and Home Learning - 15th June

Hello everyone! I just thought I would put a little message on here to keep you all updated on the current situation.

If your child is returning to school on the 15th June (Year One) things will be a little different for them. The children will be in a 'bubble' and they will do all of their learning and activities together. The classroom will look very different to what they remember. Me and Mrs Howard will be with the children in the Y1 'bubble', so hopefully this will help the children feel a little better about coming back to school. Please click on the picture below to help your child  understand all about coming back to school in a 'bubble' .

For the children who are not returning to school, I will continue to upload Home Learning on the website and on dB Primary. It may take me a little longer to reply to messages but I will still be here to help. Please continue to upload pictures and blog entries for me to see. If you have any questions please get in touch.

Thank you and stay safe!

Miss Riley

This week we are learning about how Jesus turned water into wine during a Wedding in Cana. Read the story, sequence the story using the sequencing cards, then write a thank you letter to Jesus as if you were a guest at the wedding. If you finish this, you could then use the other document to create your own wedding card.  Please send any photos of completed work to Mrs Scotson from your school account, it would be lovely to see your good work!

An overview of the year...

Welcome to Year 1's class page!

We are a class of 21 hardworking children, who love to learn.

Miss Riley and Mrs Howard are our teachers. Here you will find lots of pictures and videos celebrating all of our hard work. The page will also have important notices and any upcoming events. P.E will be on Monday and Wednesday so please make sure that your child has their P.E kit in school at all times. Homework will be sent home on a Friday and should be returned to school completed by Wednesday.  Please continue to read with your child at least three times a week.

Autumn B- Owl Babies

We have been reading the story Owl Babies. First we made predictions of what we thought was going to happen in the story by using information from the front cover and the blurb. We then made character hats to help us act out the story.

Autumn A- We have been learning all about the story ‘Supertato’ .  We have been predicting our own endings and using the small world characters to make up our own stories. Once we read the story, we loved it so much that we wanted to make our own Supertato’s.  We will be starting to do some amazing writing about our own Supertatos.

Autumn B- We have been learning all about Mary and how special she is. We have read the stories from the Bible leading up to Jesus' birth. We will be performing this story in the KS1 Nativity. We have talked about how we can prepare to celebrate Jesus' birth by making promises.

Autumn A- We have been learning lots of different stories from the Bible about how God created such a beautiful word for us to live in.  We have been retelling these stories using art, drama and small world resources. We made some posters in the making area to show how people can care for God’s world.

Autumn B- We have been learning all about Addition and Subtraction. We can add and subtract numbers using a variety of resources and methods.

Autumn A- We have been learning all about the place value of numbers. We have been ordering numbers and counting forwards and backwards, filling in the missing numbers. We have been working on one more and one less. We have also been using mathematical language to compare numbers.

We have been working on our agility and control skills this half term including, balancing and controlling our own movements to avoid collisions. We have really enjoyed our PE lessons. We have also learnt all about the effects of exercise and how it makes your heart beat faster.  We know that exercising is important to keep you fit and healthy.

The Local Area

We are developing our map skills by looking at maps of the local area. We started looking at our own classroom and we worked together to develop a messy map using keys to represent the different things in our classroom. We then uses Google Maps and other Maps to look at the local area, spotting the key things in the local area.  We then made our own large maps of the local area. We worked together to present our map to the rest of the class.
