Year 1
We are a class of 26 enthusiastic learners, lead by our teacher Miss Riley and our teaching assistant, Miss Wooden.
A warm welcome to our class page, where we would like to share our learning with you. On our page you will find pictures, examples of work as well as important notices/dates for your diary. Included at the bottom of the page is an overview of what topics are covered term by term.

English
In English, we will be looking at the books Supertato and Owl Babies.
We will be learning all about adjectives and using them to create character descriptions. We will also be writing instructions to create food for the owls.
When we look at the book Owl Babies, we will be retelling the story.
Throughout all of this work we will be focusing on our three writing rule which are - Capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. We will also be making sure we are using our phonics knowledge when we read and write.
Maths
In Maths, We are learning all about the place value of numbers. We will be ordering numbers and counting forwards and backwards up to 20, filling in the missing numbers. We will be working on one more and one less. We will begin to learn all about the Part-Part- Whole model and applying it to number calculations. We will be learning lots of different methods to complete the calculations so that we become confident when answering different questions.
RE
In RE, we have been learning all about Creation & Covenant and Prophecy & Promise.
In God's Great Plan we looked at how God created our world.
Our current topic is about the lead up to Christmas and Mary being our Mother, we will be talking about how special Mary is amd how she was chosen to do an important job for God. This will then lead us into the Nativity and Jesus.
PE
We have been working on our agility and control skills this half term including, balancing and controlling our own movements to avoid collisions. We have really enjoyed our PE lessons. We have also learnt all about the effects of exercise and how it makes your heart beat faster. We know that exercising is important to keep you fit and healthy.
