Welcome to Year 1
Welcome to the class page for Year 1, here you will find out some information about our learning and class expectations. Year 1 marks the beginning of KS1, which means the children will be starting to work more independently on a variety of exciting and fun themes.
This year your child's teachers are Mrs Rees (Mon-Wed) and Mrs Stockton (Wed-Fri) and we are supported in class by Mrs Birks.
On this page you should find all of the information that you will need about your child's curriculum and their everyday routines. Please also remember to follow us on Twitter @StAugustinesCPS to see photographs and information about the learning we do in Year 1.
If you ever have any questions or would like support with anything at all, please feel free to speak with your child's teachers at the end of the day or simply speak to the office and ask them to make an appointment to see us.
We hope you enjoy being a part of our learning journey!
RE
In RE, we are learning all about Creation & Covenant.
In God's Great Plan we looked at how God created our world.
Reading
Supporting our children in their journey to becoming a reader is one of the most important things we can do as parents. There is great excitement when that first book appears in the book bag. Gradually, squiggles on the page become letters, letters become words and words give meaning. Ensuring our children become fluent, active readers allows them to make sense of the world around them, to ask and answer questions and to be led into worlds both real and imagined that are beyond their own experience.
